Practice Friday 3-8-2024

Given the nature of our coach boat situation, and with 6-7 people not here, we are going to do somewhat of the same thing today as we did yesterday.
We will attempt to do a few warm-up drills and mimic yesterdays plan if possible… if it takes awhile to set things up, we may just do team races. Remember that TWO WHISTLES during a team race means stop immediately where you are. I can then move boats around a bit then blow two whistles to start up again.
I will get the flat deck out there and anchor it; extra sailors can switch to that to watch and rotate in.

Yesterday:

  • a few practice starts. If they are close, we may let them go to the windward mark.
  • If not, when we do an upwind TR leg we will start it in a FTL.
  • Then, will FTL in a 1,4,6 (2,3,5) to play downwind to mark 3.
  • Rule of the day: Upwind when going to a corner…. to control, almost always be the first out.
  • Maybe some full games, not sure.
  • Goals of the day: Learn to balance your pairs, win the upwind corners, and talk about what to do in a 2,3,5 or 1,4,6 downwind.
  • No meeting before going out. Go straight out.
