Tryouts begin in earnest today. We will keep 14-15 on the Varsity roster, which will make a JV team of about 12/13. Today, tomorrow, and Thursday (if necessary) are Race Days. For the 12 420’s, there will be a direct swap of crews after each race. Skippers stay in their boats for the whole regatta. Please study this rotation sheet and know it. It’s pretty easy; whatever number you start in crews, you then either go up or down. You must work to rotate quickly. You will then have to work with a new skipper/crew each race, and do the best you can. Each sailor will be scored individually.
The FJ will NOT rotate, but we will occasionally swap crews in and out of that boat as well. The Direct Swap roatation is below.
During these races, along with what we’ve already talked about, I will evaluate:
- Sailing technique/ boat handling ability
- results
- ability to work well with teammates
- focus
