Sail Trim/Weight Trim, Boat balance,  Boat Prep Week
Today we will work on slow/down-speed boat handling. This is where critical gains (and losses) are made. Overall we are still focusing on upwind sailing.
Skipper/crew teamwork, balance and communication, using weight/sail trim is the key focus for today.
After normal RS/Windsprint warm up. We will feature stops/starts (2 whistles). Please think and talk about what a good start/stop means for your team, and how you execute it.

Approximately halfway through practice we will switch to Roster 2  (see below).

Drill 1: FTL Slow stops & starts. This drill requires you to handle your boat in slow down/acceleration modes, and then transitioning into sailing upwind as quickly as possible with a lot of boats around you. Sounds like what happens at the start of a race.
Follow the leader (change spots in line each time you do the drill) who follows coach boat. Coach boat will speed up/slow down, sometimes to a stop, you MUST stay within 1 boat length or less of the boat in front of you. You must NOT make contact with any boats. Your bow must NOT be to weather of the coach boat when we are stopped/staying  in place. You will be called over early if your bow is to weather of the coach boat when the whistle blows. In that  case, you need to do a 360 turn. When the whistle blows, if you are not “over early”, sail upwind into a tacking drill.
Drill 2: Same as above, but when whistle blows it’s a race to a weather mark/offset, then finish downwind.

Maybe a race or two.
