SEVERN SAILING TEAM BOAT BUILDING CHALLENGE

OBJECTIVE:         To shed boredom, CSA (computer screen addiction) and to show up your teammates by  building the ass-kickingest wind-powered Kick-Ass Sail Car, as voted on by the team after proof of concept. What is kick-ass? More than a state of mind.

Definition of kick-ass

: strikingly or overwhelmingly tough, aggressive, powerful, or effective

SCOPE/SCALE:   This is intended to be your design, your engineering, your construction, and your implementation, and final proof of concept. The idea is to use what you have, and only what you have, at home. Severe penalties may apply if you:

1. a) let Daddy build it
2. b) order an ass-kicking boat from the Hobby Store
3. c) buy a ton of exotic carbon material from somewhere or a ton of wood from Home Depot
4. d) walk out to your private dock and take a photo of your yacht

RULES/BOATS                   Pretty wide open here, which is cool. Proof of concept is FRIDAY 24 APR

STEP 1   Choose either

A}           FAN POWERED CATEGORY

-this boat will be judged on style, design and overall ass-kickingness on how it performs in the wind (speed, distance, etc)

B) WIND POWERED CATEGORY

-this is the Pro Category, and your boat will be judged also on ass-kicking style, design, and if it moves at all by wind power, and if it is able to be controlled/steered. How much weight can it carry?

STEP 2   Build that sucker. Pretend your frickin’ Gotham Garage

STEP 3   Proof of Concept. You must video your boat in action, whether outside on a windy day, or with a home fan. Show us what you got, and what your boat can do.
