-great day for the fans, maybe a little more frustrating for the sailors. W/NW wind 6-17 knots, with 30-40 degree wind shifts throughout. Winning the start today seemed not that important; boat 4 was over/hit the mark, spun, and was right back in it within 1/3 of the beat. -what was key today was being […]

Confounding conditions (maybe like this weekend at the qualifier) today. Light, lighter, big right shift, went back for a bit, then right again. Sail away from boats downwind for clear air, find lanes and any pressure. Winners today said simple boat handling helped them win

Excellent sailing today in a big E-SE wind 9-17 knots. Lots of competitive sailing and lead changes. Great job by boat 4 both upwind and downwind; I think the passed boats downwind in at least 2 of the 3 races they won.

I was thinking during practice how nice it would be to have a scoring program that automatically calculated final beat drill results. Coach K mentioned this to Sam Bruce…… and wha-la. Thank you, Sam! Race Day Results below E-SE wind, 4-8 knots, choppy. 3 Protests heard, one DSQ, and one RDG. Some crew switches not reflected in the names below; my apologies. -Conditions today favored teams that looked for opportunities to stay out of trouble. Mariner/Ryan’s day was impressive, made all the more so given he was over early […]

Today we started in a westerly that kept backing, all the way to the SE; RC aggressively moved marks to give some decent races. Our first race of the day was abandoned; as an FYI, Boat 2 and 5 were well ahead in the abandoned race. The left generally seemed the safer bet today; but […]

Regular practice schedule next week; we will want as many boats as possible out on the water so we can practice fleet racing as an entire group. Monday is workout day, then Tues-Fri will be drills and boat-handling; Varsity may do one TR practice day, but mostly together.

5-11 knot southerly, that went SW pretty quickly. Typical Magothy River conditions, with some noticeable sheer, along with decent sized holes, and the occasional puff. Windshifts were not predictable but they were very important to act upon. The boats that were set up well at the start (with clear air and the ability to tack, […]
